the head shaving thing

July 27th, 2007 | 8 Comments | Posted in The 3 Day '07

I was flipping through the channels last night while trying to go to sleep, and wound up on some public access talk show. I have no idea what it was called; I just know the host had, in previous episodes I’d flipped through, a really nice head of hair.

For some reason last night, they were shaving it. All of it. And I started to get a little nervous. Okay, a lot nervous. Because when they were done? He had no hair. At all.

I’ve warned one of my managers at work about it, and he seemed okay with it… as long as you call offering to donate money if I need it as okay, which I think it is.

But holy crap. No hair is like NO HAIR.

Which is kind of awesome.

walking and my new boyfriend

So, what’d I do tonight after I called it quits on my detective duties tonight?

I walked with Stephanie and talked about The 3 Day. (WalkJogRun.net is so awesome for training walks.)

And then I watched all the way up to the season finale of The Office’s 3rd season. Jim Halpert, please have my babies.

I just started watching this show over the 4th of July. I may go through heavy withdrawal before the next season starts in freaking September.

mmm. pancakes.

In some down-to-the-wire fundraising attempts to make sure everyone on our team can participate in the walk, Team Boobylicious is having a good ol’ fashioned Pancake Breakfast this Saturday.

What: A breakfast of pancakes, bacon, sausage, and orange juice
When: Saturday, July 28th from 8-10 a.m.
Where: Applebee’s Restaurant at Knollwood Mall in St. Louis Park
How much: $5 per person
Register here: http://www.teamboobylicious.com/pancakes

Applebee’s has asked that we have no more than 200 folks there, so if you’re planning on coming, please register in advance! You can actually pay when you get there.

See you there, right?

hey you look over here

Do you knit, crochet, or sew?
Do you make jewelry or pottery?
Are you an artist or photographer?
Do you bake, cook, or can?
Do you spin or make clothing?
Do you just have cool stuff you’d like to give away for an incredible cause?
WE NEED YOU!

Team Boobylicious is holding a silent auction on August 16 at Hubert’s. That’s a week before the Breast Cancer 3Day, our very last fundraiser of the year. And it also happens to be the same time I’ll be shaving my head for hitting my goal of $5000. More details to come on that piece of it!

We already have many great items to offer. We have autographed Twins baseballs signed by Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, and the coaches. We have a professional bowling ball. We have handmade items, baked goods, and art. We have gift certificates to restaurants, and merchandise from local businesses. We have 2 $75 Timberwolves tickets.

In the interest of making this event a huge success, I would appreciate any help you can give us. I would love to be able to auction handmade or original items in particular. The results from the Boob Ha Ha were spectacular and it was all homemade! If you’re the kind of person who creates and wants to help a very good cause, please contact me via email or comments here.

You will be given very generous recognition for your contribution before and during the event, featured on our auction website, and will have the satisfaction of knowing you did a good deed. Thanks in advance for your help, and a very sincere thank you to everyone who has already donated items to the cause.

just for a bit

I shouldn’t be posting, but I needed to.

My trip to visit The Cuz was incredible. The silent auction raised over $2400. I also met some incredibly gifted people, which also happened to be very awesome to hang out with. I came close to stealing a small toddler. I didn’t think about work, except when I bitched Robin’s ear off.

This morning, I woke up and headed to work, only to realize my car had been broken into somehow. The window wasn’t broken, but everything had been rifled through, including my bag of dirty clothes from the weekend and my messenger bag that holds my laptop, camera, and iPod (which they left). They also spent some time going through the box of notecards I’d won at the auction, which also held some magnets that were donated and some leftover I heart boobs pins.

Some cash, a few DVDs, and some software I was selling off Amazon.com was stolen – all from the garage underneath my apartment building. Turns out at least half a dozen other cars had been broken into, according to the Eagan police.

I called my apartment’s office this morning, and she said there wasn’t anything they could do about it. I even found out the security cameras they have mounted everywhere don’t actually record anything. Man, if that doesn’t make you feel safe, I don’t really know what does.

Ugh. I feel dirty when shit gets stolen from me.
Anyway, I’m home. Tonight, I’m settling in with my filthy dog, who once again had a very good time at the kennel, and we’re watching a lot of TV. And not moving off the couch.

Tomorrow I have an appointment that involves a drill and my mouth, which should be a good time.

boob ha ha final numbers!

July 15th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in The 3 Day '07

With donations from the winning bids and some extra money thrown here and there for buttons, magnets, and other random jelly The Cuz happened to pull out of her ass cabinets, we ended the evening at a grand total of $2441. That more than doubled the amount of money I’d raised so far.

My calculations are a little rough, but I’m pretty sure I need less than $100 to meet my $5000 head-shaving goal. Right on, I say, right the f-u-c-k on. (Is it obvious I’ve spent copious amounts of time around toddlers for the past 48 hours?)

Aside from a more than successful fundraiser, last night turned into a hell of a party where I met a ton of new awesome people, whose blogs, Flickr accounts, and/or MySpace profiles I have to find.

Now, it’s off for a lunch of ice cream, because we had a breakfast of chicken wings around 2pm since we all woke up around noon.

final bidding tonight!

July 13th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in The 3 Day '07, TV

With work and all the good stuff going on there and being out of town every damn weekend, I don’t have a lot of time to post so much anymore… even though I, as usual, have more than enough things to talk about. And the pictures, ohhhh, the pictures.

I just wanted to quickly remind you guys one last time to head over to do some bidding on the awesome things at the Boob Ha Ha. I’ve got my bid in on a couple of the amazing photographs, even though I haven’t decided how the hell I’m going to transport them back on the plane if I win them… The bidding ends at midnight tonight, so don’t forget to get your final amounts in!

The total is close to – if not over – $2000, which means by the time this is all said and done, I’ll only have a few hundred bucks to raise in order to shave my head for the actual 3 Day Walk. Oddly, I’m very excited about this whole shaving thing!

(P.S. I got hooked on The Office. My plan is to spend my airplane/airport time tonight watching the end of Season 1 and part of Season 2. Also, I love Jim a lot.)

how about a random list

July 10th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in Dirty Obsession, In My Neighborhood, Lists, Lynx, Misc., Riley, Sports, The 3 Day '07
  • Please go do a little bidding action for the Boob Ha Ha if you haven’t already. I have my eye on a couple of the photographs, because I still don’t have anything on my walls except shelves and a smashed mosquito.
  • If Clay Aiken put his foot on my armrest mid-flight, I don’t know if I’d shove him. But I may break his ankle. Clay and I are over. For real this time.
  • You know when there’s 2 minutes left in a basketball game and the home team is home by 13 or so? That’s not an appropriate time to leave if you’re sitting close to the court and there are people behind you that want to watch the whole game. Sit your asses down and wait until the final buzzer. There’s not that much traffic to beat, okay?
  • The “roving maintenance” crew is supposed to be power washing my air conditioners today. Yeah, I don’t know either. I just know I had to move a bunch of furniture and now my apartment is in shambles.
  • Work? Eww. I’m just sayin’.
  • My new computer has Vista, and I don’t really hate it. I even kinda like it.
  • Only three days until I hop a plane for St. Louis and send my dog to the babysitter once again. You have no idea how happy it makes me that Riley loves his babysitter a lot. Do you need one in the Twin Cities area? Use Canine Caretaker; you will not be sorry. His picture’s on their website even.

let the bidding commence

July 8th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in The 3 Day '07

Did you check out www.boobhaha.com yet today? Bidding is under way, and there are some awesome goodies to bid on – incredible knitted goods, absolutely amazing matted (and framed!) photos, jellies, purses, clothes, a personalized caricature (how cool would be to have one of Riley and I?) and even a quilt that was handmade by my very own gramma.

The most amazing part about this whole thing? Nearly all of the items up for bid were donated by people I’ve never even met. The Cuz knows some damn generous (and other adjectives that mean incredibly awesome) people, and this whole head-shaving plan may just work out after all.

In fact, I dare you to go check it out and not totally fall in love with some of the homemade items that have been posted. No, seriously – I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU.

coughing and the boob-ha-ha

July 3rd, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Me, The 3 Day '07

I have two things for you right now, because I’m still working on uploading pictures from this weekend and writing the most awesome recap in all of the land.

#1) I have The Summer Plague. Mainly, it’s the coughing, and it sucks a lot. I may sleep standing up tonight, so I don’t cough my head off all night long.

#2) The Boob-Ha-Ha is now super official. It has a website.
