typical monday morning list

June 5th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Lists, The 3 Day '06
  • After our garage sale this weekend and a few other donations, Team Boobylicious has raised $22,075 towards our $30K goal. At last check, we were 12th out of 300+ teams in fundraising and #4 in per member donations. Yes, we’re awesome. I’m $85 from my $2500 goal. Super awesome.
  • Went for a walk with Jenny Friday night in Minneapolis. We took our cameras, because that is what we do! Here are the pictures.
  • I spent over an hour at the gym yesterday by myself, split between the recumbent bike and the crosstrainer. I kept thinking I was tired, but then remembered that I was at the gym for a reason, so I kept adding a two or three more minutes as time ran down. It felt awesome.
  • I hate the President. My head started throbbing when I read parts of his bullshit radio address where he tries to justify the constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriages. It makes me want to never marry someone of the opposite sex intentionally, just because.
  • Maybe my head is throbbing because I haven’t had any caffeine since Saturday night.
  • FitDay.com? Probably my new best friend for a while, assuming I’ll stick with updating it and not abandon it like I do everything else in my life.
  • I’m camping this weekend. And by camping, I mean staying in a cabin. It’s my first vacation-type thing that hasn’t involved crashing at someone else’s house who just happens to be in the town I’m visiting. I’M REALLY EXCITED. I’m in charge of jello shots so far. I knew that talent would come in handy!
  • Little Riley FancyPants had his professional photo shoot Saturday afternoon. He was super hot, so he was panting the whole time. All but about 3 of his pictures were with his mouth wide open. I should have copies of some sort in three weeks. Expect great cuteness.

3 day awesomeness

Team Boobylicious hit a couple of big goals this afternoon. We hit our original goal of 12 team members, so we did what any good co-captains would do. We set a new goal of 15 team members.

And even more exciting feat? We crossed over the $20,000 mark on donations. Un-freaking-believable. Our team goal of $30,000 is absolutely attainable. My personal goal of $2500 is also definitely in reach.

Of course I could come up with a whole list of things of why this year’s 3 Day is making me so proud, but the main one now? Our team has managed to recruit nine more people to help raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

Jenni and I are going to try to recruit even more people next Saturday. We’re volunteering at the next 3 Day Expo.

When I think about how much work I’ve put into fundraising, training, and spreading the word about the walk and why I’m walking, I really feel like this is the most important thing in my life right now. It fills me with pride and happiness and dignity and nobility. Who knew charity could be so self-fulfilling?
(You people would be so proud if you knew how hard it was for me to make this post without sharing any of the negativity that some of our team members bring to each and every event.)

the weekend? it was good.

Booby-Q

There was the zoo, a fundraising Booby-Q with a Hawaiian theme, a charity walk, Pizza Luce, riding the train, and not enough sleep.

Good news? My dog likes wearing grass skirts and leis.

AIDSWalk pictures here.

i keep thinking it’s friday

And that means you’re about to get a Booby-Q reminder.

Please don’t deny your love for boobs any longer. Come to our Booby-Q and we’re guaranteeing you’ll get lei’d. There’s no other party in the Twin Cities on Saturday night that can make that same guarantee.

Take a look at this equation:

Food + Beer/Soda + Fun + Getting Lei’d = AWESOME

And you can get all of that AWESOME for only $15.

Plus, you can hang with me, meet my dog, see my new apartment, and meet some of my awesome friends that are already going to be there.

I really don’t feel the need to justify this any further. I’ll just plan on seeing you all there, right?

booby-q on saturday! be there!

This Saturday, May 20th – remember when I told you to mark your calendars? This is why!

We’re having a Hawaiian-style fundraising BBQ and raising money for boobs at the same time. There’s a $15 cover, but includes all of the BBQ and beer you could possibly dream of. You know that’s a good deal.

Let me know if you’re going to be there… or if you’d like directions, or whatever. I promise it’s not in the hood, except for the 13-year-old pot smoking wannabe thugs that taunt my dog as they walk by. But they’re cool. And they’re not invited.

Email me with questions, RSVPs, stock tips, and love poems. If you’re reading this, that automatically means I want to see you there!

lists are popular on mondays

  • Boobylicious Gear is now available for all that are interested! Proceeds will be donated to our team’s efforts on The 3 Day. Like you couldn’t have figured that out on your own.
  • Because we needed to talk about everything that happened during Bowling for Boobs, we walked 8.82 miles yesterday. I’m thinking it was closer to 9, because we did things like walk through a gas station looking for water and bathrooms.
  • Pictures AND captions from Bowling for Boobs can be found right here. It makes me want to start a 3 Day Photo Album. And it also makes fundraising look like SO MUCH FUN.
  • Every single time I’ve typed boobs over the past week or so, i’ve accidentally typed boogs. I can’t explain that.
  • My knuckle tattoos are still slightly visible. Sharpie doesn’t wash off very well if you don’t scrub it right away.

bowling for boobs is over

Bowling was terrific tonight. We raised just under $1500. I met a lot of great new people tonight and also realize that the most important thing in fundraising is the FUN. It was a huge success as far as awareness and support and fun goes, and I think sometimes that’s more important than a big dollar amount. But right now it’s 1:30 in the morning and I need to sleep.

bowling for boobs again

What you don’t know about all of this bowling bash planning is that it’s been very stressful and full of drama. I was unaware that certain fundraising things we’re doing require permits and licenses and the like. But we’re clear and legal now, folks, and that means you need to come join in on the activities that almost sent us to fundraising jail!

So, for maybe the last time, if you have no plans tomorrow night, I would love to see your smiling face at Bowling for the Cure.
My post with more information can be found here, or visit our website at teamboobylicious.com.

Not only did I learn karate while grocery shopping tonight, but I also bought nearly all of the food-type items for Bowling for Boobs for under $64. Jenny is a very good co-shopper/bargain-finder. You’re coming bowling Saturday night, right?
The manager at Perkins, however, seemed severely disturbed when I was talking about how much I was leg pressing at the gym. It’s really not all that much (155 lbs tonight), but I think he just thought girls lifting weights must be icky. So I waited for him outside of the restaurant to give him a NICE FAT ROUNDHOUSE. Right in the groin.
