Quandary I: I need new running shoes.
Quandary II: Why do I crave a billion bananas as soon as I’m done working out?
Quandary III: We started hitting the local community center several months ago to take advantage of what they call their “workout room” and hopes of the occasional pool time for The Boy. The General had to do a lot of convincing, but finally talked me into it. I couldn’t be happier about it. I try to hit the gym at least five days a week for at least an hour and always feel great when leaving. I’ve started running, lost some weight, toned some weird places, etc. I’m committed to it pretty hardcore. Our family membership has eventually dropped down to a dual membership, and very recently that has become a sole membership: just me. So, I started looking at other options just to see what else was out there.
I found a Snap Fitness that’s 2 miles from my house and now I can’t stop thinking about switching my membership over to there. I just paid for a full month at the community center, but am tempted to give it a shot when that expires. And here’s why:
- It’s close enough for me to bike or walk to if I really needed.
- There’s tons more equipment, so I wouldn’t have to wait in line.
- It’s open 24 hours.
Those are the only three things that I don’t like about my current gym setup. Of course, it’s ~ $8/month, but the above three things kind of make up for that.
Do you belong to Snap? Do you like it? Hate it? Would love some real opinions of it and not just ones I can find posted online, because people tend to get a little carried away with that kind of thing.
With my Gym Buddyâ„¢ now living in Bangor, Maine, I haven’t been to the gym yet this month. In fact, I haven’t been to the gym since July 18th. I’m not a winner right now!
I have nothing motivational to say to myself to go. I’m just going to quit being stupid and go. Besides, how else am I going to A) walk 60 miles in 3 days without dying or B) get there 8 times this month to get $20 off my gym membership, if I don’t start going now?
Now see my dog model:
It’s like glamour shots for dogs. If only he could raise his paw up under his chin.
Today was a bad ass day at the gym, although I may be too sore tomorrow to raise my hands above my head.
My benchpressing has been going increasingly well as of late and tonight, I skyrocketed past my personal best.
I did 100lbs for six reps, and followed that with 110lbs for three reps. So awesome.
I forced down 50 ounces of water, before I caved in and convinced myself I needed a real Coke. Then, it was water and apple juice for the rest of the night. Apple juice isn’t ideal, but it’s better than a Coke.
Way too much inattentive dining out last week and entirely too much regular soda almost made my five trips to the gym all for naught, because I only lost 1.5 lbs. I guess it’s 1.5 lbs I won’t have to lose next week, though, so I won’t complain too much.
It was awesome this week to look in my checking account online and see the gym had only deducted $12 from my checking account. My health insurance just switched over to giving me $20 off my monthly membership, as long as I hit the gym eight times a month. This was the first month it took into effect. And I’m excited to say I’ve already been there 8 times this month and it’s only the 17th.
And in order to follow my strict orders of getting 8 hours of sleep tonight, I have to go to bed right this very second.
