another shot at 101 things for the next 1001 days

For the record, I’ve had the list since April 4, but have been lazy about posting it and Brittney Griner was much more important to me yesterday than this was.

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (i.e. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (i.e. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as new year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

Begin Date: April 4, 2013
End Date: December 31, 2015

Items Completed: 0/101 (0%)
Items Not Completed: 0

Here’s the whole list where I’ll track everything. I got way too out of hand last time with shit like read a million books and watch all the James Bond movies. That left no time at all for the other things I didn’t get done like adopting a baby and visiting a new city. Stupid Vegas getting in the way.

This time around, things are doable and I’m excited about it, even though it does including running a 5K with my wedding party. Bunch of dicks.

I’m excited because I already have a few things in process!

10. Change the layout of this website.
New layout, yes, but there are other plugins and whatnot I want to add, so I’m not calling it done just yet.

15. Track the amount of money I make on ye ol’ blog.
Started that yesterday with a pretty chunk of change sitting in my Paypal account. This’ll be ongoing for all 1001 days.

17. Complete C25K and run a 5K with Jenni, Matt and Ani.
I just finished week 1 of the Couch-to-5K without much problem. But I’m pretty sure my grandma could do that, too.

77. Visit 12 new restaurants/bars. (1/12)
One down! Shawn, Ani, Amelia and I had celebratory burgers and beers at Burger Jones on Friday. I really want to go back!

79. Sign up for Untappd and use it to try 10 new beers. (3/10)
Downloaded Untappd and have already tried three new beers (Shock Top Belgian White, Finnegans Irish Amber and Mary Ann by 612 Brew) . I never said they had to be fancy ones, because I enjoy a beer I can see through.

80. Watch 20 documentaries. (1/20)
Amelia and I watched “I Think We’re Alone Now”, a documentary about two people WAY obsessed with Tiffany.

98. Do the MN Aids Walk again.
