next up: my own little cookbook
I would like you all to know I’m an accomplished cooker… Nope. Baker? Nah. Cutting-up-vegetables-and-throwing-them-in-a-bowl-person? Yes, that We had some kind of a potluck last year and I made this bowl of things that I ended up loving and so did everyone else. And so when it was potluck time again last week, since my best work buddy is moving and it was her last day, she was all – MAKE THAT COWBOY CAVIAR STUFF. I didn’t even know what the hell she was talking about, so I Googled it. Turns out I did in fact make cowboy caviar, so I decided to make it again and change up the recipe a bit.
So, on Julia Childs’ birthday, I made the following recipe and you can call it whatever you want:
1 red pepper (finely chopped)
1 yellow pepper (also finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (have your ladyfriendfiance do this part)
1 handful of cilantro (this sucks to cut up and I have small hands)
1/2 poblano pepper
1 can black beans with jalapeno (Kuner’s are my favorite beans ever)
1 can sweet corn (the cheapest kind, don’t tell my co-workers)
1 can green chiles
1 Tbs lime juice
Drain the canned stuff as much as you can and then throw everything in a bowl. Stir it. Eat three spoonfuls it to confirm it’s deliciousness. Get chips. Now eat all of it.
You’re done. It should look something like this:
