With an upcoming wedding in which I’m part of the bridal party, everyone is always asking me if I’m going to wear a dress. I would, if asked. I really would. I wouldn’t do it for many people, but for my BFF and Brother from Another Mother, I would totally do it.
June 15, 2002: This is the last time I wore a dress. I know you’re all wondering. It, too, was for a wedding, one beautifully done outdoors wedding in which Rick and Brooke got hitched. Prior to that?
May 25, 1996: My high school graduation. I wore a skirt underneath my gown. I don’t even know why. It’s not like anybody could have noticed. And let me tell you, sitting through 300+ students walking across the stage when your last name starts with B is way painful. Even more so when wearing a dress. And before that?
October 12, 1992: My uncle got married and I was a candlelighter. There were high heels that had been dyed fuchsia involved. My only consolation was that I got to see Michael Jordan (and the rest of the Chicago Bulls) play later that night in an exhibition game in Kansas City against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
That’s three times in almost 20 years. Maybe I should go dress shopping this weekend.
