things that have happened

March 27th, 2009 | 1 Comment | Posted in Lists

It’s be 2+ weeks since I actually posted something, which is kinda crazy for me… And, because I know the world doesn’t like reading long paragraphs, here’s a list of things that have happened since then:

  1. I celebrated my 7th year of living in Minnesota!
  2. I got a Blackberry, thanks to Matilda444′s generosity.
  3. I’ve been to at least 6 Timberwolves games courtesy of Suzi and/or Work, which means my seats have always been ridiculously awesome and free.
  4. I went to therapy.
  5. I turned 31 and the celebration was the most low key I’d had in years. Apparently I’m an adult now?
  6. I got a Nintendo Wii with my birthday money from my parents, my gramma, and the proceeds from the trip to the Casino The General funded.
  7. We got a Wii Fit in the mail today, because we just had to have one.
  8. The General and I have started a pretty awesome diet regimen (if that’s the right word) and we’re both motivated to stick to it, which is pretty awesome.

So, yeah. A lot going on, but it’s been all pretty awesome things. My therapist said I should take times to do things that I love and I felt too nerdy to tell her that blogging was something that I loved. I should probably figure out how to blog from email so I can do it from work over my lunch break, because twodolla.org is blocked from my work domain – PORNOGRAPHY, it says. Sorry about that, IT Department.

  • I'm adding this to the list of things I want to try myself once all the dishes are clean. Which may be never.

american idol 8: top 13

March 10th, 2009 | Comments Off | Posted in American Idol

The General protested the idea of live blogging American Idol, but since I now have the laptop, it looks like it’s live blogging time… at least if you’re on the West Coast. It’s Michael Jackson night, and having not read any spoilers at all, I’m kind of excited about the options for tonight’s performances.

Here we go, in short form tonight.

Lil Rounds – “The Way You Make Me Feel”:
Wendy: Too much screaming, so not down with the makeup.
General: Her outfit’s horrific. It’s Fantasia in a smaller body.

Scott MacIntyre – “Keep the Faith”:
Wendy: I’m glad he’s back behind the piano, but I didn’t love it.
General: It was okay.

Danny Gokey – “P.Y.T.”:
Wendy: I have this dude picked as the winner in our work pool for a reason, yo.
General: Wow.

Michael Sarver – “You Are Not Alone”:
Wendy: I get bored with him every time,
General: Boring. Cruise ship. That big cheesy grin of his always makes me think of someone at Valley Fair.

Jasmine “Alien Head Tranny” Murray – “I’ll Be There”:
Wendy: I think the stylists took her shopping at Frederick’s of Hollywood. Her performance was equally as trashy and something I want to avoid. And it’s too bad because this is one of my favorite songs of all-time.
General: There’s a reason she didn’t make it in during the first rounds. She’s pitchy as hell. And she has an alien forehead. She needs to go home and go back to high school.

Kris Allen – “Remember the Time”:
Wendy: I think he’s adorable. I loved about 85% of this performance.
General: It was great until the last 10 seconds.

Allison Iraheta – “Give Into Me”:
Wendy: I like her a lot.
General: I think she did really well actually.

Anoop DOGG Desai – “Beat It”"
Wendy: Anoop is a lot. I would just like to give him a haircut.
General: He’s a great performer.

Jorge Nunez – “Never Can Say Goodbye”:
Wendy: I can’t watch him. And I’d rather not listen to him anymore.
General: He makes stupid, cheesy faces the whole time. It’s the same douchey faces that Sanjaya made.

Megan Joy Corkery – “Rockin’ Robin”:
Wendy: I can’t watch her either. I really love her voice.
General: I love her voice. She’s quirky as hell.

Adam Lambert – “Black or White”:
Wendy: He reminds me too much of Constantine. And too much of a dude that needs everyone to pay attention to him all day every day.
General: I’m not a fan. How many fucking times did he sing that in front of a mirror to get those facial expressions right?

Matt Giraud – “Human Nature”:
Wendy: I like him when he’s behind the piano, too. The recording industry needs a dude version of Alicia Keys.
General: I love him actually. He has a really unique voice and he’s a super talented pianist.

Alexis Grace – “Dirty Diana”:
Wendy: I don’t remember her from the auditions, but have loved her ever since.
General: I thought she was great. It was a perfect song choice for her. She looked fantastic.

Bottom Three:
Wendy: Jorge, Alien Head Tranny, and Michael Sarver. I hope Alien Head goes home and I think Jorge will go with her.
General: Jorge, Alien Head Tranny, and Anoop; Jorge and Anoop will be the 2 that go home.

a good tuesday night

March 3rd, 2009 | 1 Comment | Posted in Local

Got to head to the Timberwolves game with Suzi tonight right after work. It was a good way to end my day, even if they did lose by 2980 points or so. The only reason I miss Rashad is because there’s nobody we can pick on as much. And, I accidentally cheered for Mark Madsen and his Prop 8 supporting ways, but then I realized I just cheer in hopes of him revealing his special Mormon underpants in some fashion. (Note to self: Register mormonunderpants.com and rediret it to Mad Dog’s Blog. Or maybe MadDogsManPanties.com)

Headed out of the Target Center and onto the sidewalk along First Avenue, calling The General to share my general location. I hadn’t been out of the door six feet before I ran into a pack (is it a gaggle? a school? a flock? a litter?) of strippers handing out coupons for Rick’s Cabaret (NSFW!). I’m not going to lie. It scared me. I mean, c’mon, that much make up would scare the pee out of anyone. So, I say the first thing I could think of.

“Uh, honey, there are strippers here. They’re handing out coupons. For free pole dances.”

The General laughed.

The strippers did not. “What? Did she just call us strippers? OMG.” (That last part isn’t true, but it may as well have been.)

And then they chased me down the street. Luckily, I’d left my 5 inch heeled boots at the office and was able to escape. (Yeah, that’s not true either.)
