where i was to where i am

Holidailies has a prompt today that’s just begging for me to answer: Do you still live in the place where you grew up? How far away are you now, and why?

Do I still live in the place where I grew up? Nope, I certainly do not.

How far away am I? Just far enough. Google Maps says it’s 523 miles from door-to-door. The seven to eight hour drive gives me enough time to switch from living in a city with people of different colors to spending time in a small town where I’ll go to the Wal-Mart SuperCenter at least four times in a five day stay, running into no less than 6 people that I know each time. And then I’ll have to speak politely about why I moved to Minneapolis and why I love it and why I’ll never move back to Sedalia.

Sedalia? It’s just right for some people. It’s just not right for me.

fancying hunting gear

I think I’ve said it before, but I’m a huge fan of Canon as opposed to Nikon. Should I ever make the leap to SLR, it’ll be hard to stray from Canon based on my last three awesome cameras. However, should I ever take up hunting and need something to assist me in my deer-sniping activities, there’s always the Nikon Hunting Christmas Promotion that I’d totally take advantage of, especially since it’s almost guaranteed to “increase my long-range shooting skills”.

The idea of me dressed completely in camoflauge, with an orange vest for safety naturally, trapsing around the woods with a shot gun and a very fancy Nikon rifle scope, with my trusting hunting dog, Riley P. Bigglesworth, at my side kind of makes me laugh until my side hurts. The thought of me hunting anything with four legs is kind of scary, mainly because I’m generally scared of everything that has four legs and can be hunted.

suck it, mchale

Erica (of cinna.mn and fresh.mn fame) invited me to tag along to a Timberwolves game last night, since she’d received two suite tickets with her Lynx season ticket package. I couldn’t really say no, because HEY I LIKE BASKETBALL.

Coincidentally enough, last night was Kevin McHale’s second coaching debut, since Randy Wittman got the axe earlier for his second shitty start to a season in a row. (Ironic fact #1: It’s safe to blame McHale for the lack of talent that Wittman’s had to coach, thanks to his little shenanigans with Joe Smith several years ago.)

Really, is Kevin McHale your only answer, Glen Taylor? I know you have some kind of gigantic boner for this dude and probably had his jersey back in the day sitting in your closet next to Larry Bird and Robert Parish’s. Maybe even Danny Ainge’s. I don’t know your life, man! I just know McHale is not as golden of a child as you want him to be.
