four eyes for cheap

I’ve had my glasses for a while – probably close to a couple years now. I remember getting them shortly after I had the gigantic car collision of 2006, and my chiropractor yelled at me for not telling him I was getting headaches. I can tell they’re getting about that old based on the scratches I’ve been noticing, which have probably happened by cleaning the lenses with my t-shirts. What? Carrying around an extra piece of special cloth in my non existent purse doesn’t seem to work out so well for me.

The General and I talked about getting vision insurance when I finally qualified at ASA™ (my new nickname for my employer) for insurance, but then figured it’d be cheaper to save that extra money a month and just find some cheap place to get super awesome frames. Show me a place with tons of options for eyeglasses and I’ll be one happy four-eyed kid. I know it can’t be that hard to give my former optometrist (at Wal-Mart in Eagan, of all places) a call and find out what my prescription really is. And if I have to go get another eye exam, I can’t imagine it costing all that much to begin with.

Ordering things online? I’m a fan. Especially when the place gets great reviews. Convenience? Check. Cheap? Check. I’d order bags of dog poop if I could get those two guarantees.

A few weeks ago, I made a horrible attempt at trying to talk two more people into joining The General and I in the same bowling league that Matt and Jenni joined this year. I failed miserably, but for the past two weeks, I’ve been filling in people that have been out for whatever reason. Prior to that, I think the last time I’d bowled was my birthday back in March.

I’ve always thought joining a bowling league would be a good idea. I love bowling a lot; I’m just sort of horrible at it. Or maybe just not as good as I wish I was.

Each week, in this league, you bowl three games, and also get pizza and beer, for $13. Good deal, right? And I’d actually pay $13/week just to observe all the a-holes that are also in this league.

My scores have looked like the following:

Week 1: 96, 79, and 141 (average of 105)
Week 2:
116, 123, and 103 (average of 114)

So I’m improving! And also, why the hell do I not get the full concept of bowling? Is it really that hard??

I don’t even know the last time I used a phone book for anything other than propping the front door to my building open. And when I want to look up a number, I just use Google. But there are times, when I’m at work and see an incoming phone call on my cell phone I don’t recognize, I need to see who it might be. And that’s when having some sort of an online Phone Book comes in handy! There’s nothing quite like getting a call, looking it up, and finding out it’s from some stupid windows and siding place that got my information from the Women’s Expo in 2005.
