This is just so awful. That bridge is in the middle of everything. It's really amazing to me that even more people weren't hurt or killed. Three cheers for all our city's rescue people and nurses and doctors and paramedics and all the regular ol' citizens who helped. Wow. This is just so awful. Normally I'm out of Minneapolis by 4:45, but I worked late today. I drove over the bridge about 20 minutes before it collapsed. I'm glad I didn't stay any later and am thinking about those who were killed, injured or missing and their families. Some of the work they were doing creeped me out because they were taking all of the concrete out of some portions of the bridge and you could see through it to the river. I am in DC for the summer and was pretty alarmed to hear all this going on. I live in Marcy Holmes and go to school at the Humphrey on the West Bank so this will really suck for traffic in my area there. Sad that people died and got hurt. Really sucks...
