ai: idol gives back part 1

April 24th, 2007 | 2 Comments | Posted in American Idol, Reality Shows, TV

You know what’s really hard? Trying to take Ryan Seacrest seriously. If the world ever comes to an end and we know about it well in advance, I would highly suggest having Ryan tell the world, because he can’t possibly be serious. The world as you know it will be coming to an end on… after the break.

My Tivo tells me the six finalists perform songs about compassion and music tonight. While I’m sure he’s a great kid, I’m glad Sanjaya isn’t coming back this week to butcher yet another style of song.

Ellen DeGeneres shows this on her show at least once a week and I seriously can’t stop being creeped out about it.

(Is it obviously I now have a plugin that lets me embed YouTube videos? Except I can’t figure out why they show up just as links on RSS readers.)

“I do good things. If you want to make a good thing into a bad thing, then so be it.” – Torii Hunter

Not that there needs to be any other reason for me to love Torii Hunter, but his big Major League Baseball rule violation has quite possibly made me love him even more.

Hunter’s gift of four bottles of Dom Perignon, which he had delivered to the Royals clubhouse this past weekend, was meant as a reward for the Royals sweeping the Detroit Tigers last September, allowing the Twins to come from behind to win the American League Central. The gift fulfilled a promise Hunter made last fall.

An All-Star, Golden Glove winner, who never gets into any type of trouble around the league and throws his body on the line for every single play he makes tries to do something nice for a team that never gets recognizes for doing anything but losing, and look what happens.

So, hey, Terry Ryan! When you read this, please sign Torii to a Forever Contract worth whatever it is he wants. It’ll be worth it in the long run, I promise.

love letter lessons

The other day, Desi and I were talking about Craigslist and some of the ads that people place that are absolutely the worst ideas ever, and how Craigslist (or CL as we obsessive nerds like to call it!) isn’t exactly the place to meet high quality people. (Note: Don’t yell at me. This is a gross generalization and I’m sure there are wonderful exceptions to the rule!)

Exactly 89% personal ads I’ve read on CL (and maybe I’ve posted an ad or two there in the past, but I’ll never tell) are absolutely horrible. They usually have about as much sincerity and romance as my bathroom rug. I’m hoping that those people writing about “I don’t need no drama” and “Prefer you 2 b petite with a badunkadunk booty” will take note of a certain site that gives example of how to write a love letter. Once they find the match of their dreams, they’ll be able to open things up and show the sweet, sincere side of themselves.

This has been yet another public service announcement by the Emperor of All Relationship and/or Dating Knowledge. (I kid.)
