double the pleasure
Two workouts in two days and they’re getting recorded in the same post. I’m resourceful like that.
I know all of you aren’t into it, so I’ll throw the details in an extended entry. I’m nice. Remember?

Two workouts in two days and they’re getting recorded in the same post. I’m resourceful like that.
I know all of you aren’t into it, so I’ll throw the details in an extended entry. I’m nice. Remember?
It’s been over a month since I moved into my swanky new apartment. i’ve only been grocery shopping once. I spent about $25 at the grocery store on peanut butter, two kinds of jelly, bread, tortillas, and shredded cheese. Oh, and butter. I think it’s probably high time to take a real trip to the grocery store this weekend.
A few years ago, my aunt gave me a cookbook where all the recipes only took four ingredients. I used once to make Kool-Aid pie, and it was damn good. Since then, the cookbook has found its way onto the shelf. I should dig that back out and see what I can come up with to, you know, have for dinner.
I was looking online for healthy (and easy) breakfast ideas, because I skip breakfast every day and we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I found one involving eggs and some vegetables. I was excited until the recipe said the eggs needed to be “beaten until frothy”. While there are a few people that I would like to beat until they are frothy, just because it sounds cool, I don’t really know what frothy eggs should look like.
Clearly, after my Steam Locomotive class is over, I should look for a nice cooking class. Then, not only could I drive the train, but also work in the dining car. Of a steam locomotive.
I didn’t really want to get out of bed this morning. I woke up at 6, took the dog outside so he could do his thing, and then we went back to bed. It was raining and cool and quiet. And then I remembered there are three episodes of Saved by the Bell on in the mornings on TBS.
This morning, they were showing old Miss Bliss episodes, which are before the days of Kelly Kapowski, Jessi Spano, and A.C. Slater. Did you know, Saved by the Bell fans, that when Zack, Screech, and Lisa were in the 8th grade, they went to a school called JFK that was located in Indiana?
This morning, Miss Bliss won the award for best teacher in Indiana. Not California, which is where Bayside High School is located.
So, apparently, Mr. Belding, Zack, Screech, and Lisa all moved from Indiana to California in the summer between their 8th and 9th grade year. They also took the school building with them.
I’m very emotionally disturbed by the lack of continuity in Saved by the Bell. I don’t know if I can ever watch it again.
Until tomorrow morning.
I went to the gym again tonight. I was so high on endorphins last night that I wanted to do it again. So I did.

11 min on the treadmill – .63 miles/3.44 mph (beginning of workout)
25 min on the recumbent bike – 7.43 miles/17.62 mph (end of workout)
Weights:
Sagital/Lateral Raises

The time on the treadmill was spent in bursts of running. Yeah, me running. It felt good, though, and apparently my buddy that’s helping me train wants me to get to a 9 minute mile. I laughed. I haven’t ran a 9 minute mile since 8th grade. Goals are good, though, right?
My left calf started to cramp up during my cooldown on the bike. I probably should have picked up some potassium of some sort on the way home to help out with the potential charley horse I’ll wind up with tonight, but I didn’t. I’ll just power through it like I do my workouts. Grr!
Ten left on American Idol, which means these are the ten that will tour once the show’s over. I’ve never actually been to one of the American Idol group concerts… so no chance of me hooking up with Kevin Covais when the tour stops in Minneapolis. I guess I can settle for Chris or Ace or, well, anyone else of legal age.
Sometimes I wonder who they pay to pick their themes. Songs of the 21st Century! Oooh, how original. Next week, it’s going to be songs that have three word titles, with guest judges Davy Jones and Mickey Dolenz!
For the first time in my years of American Idol watching, I voted. I decided to do it with much gusto, so I voted 21 times.
Between Jenni and Jodi, I don’t think I have a shot in hell to not go to this year’s Lollapalooza.
Three days of music in Chicago’s Grant Park taking place two weeks before I’m supposed to walk 60 miles in the name of boobs.
Would it be awesome? Yes.
Is it the best idea in the world? Probably not.
Will I do it? Probably, because I suck with peer pressure.
New apartment, new schedule, blogging again… things are in order for me now, with the exception of laundry. But when is that ever in order for me? But now I’m back at the gym for however remaining weeks I have my trainer. He’s moving to the East Coast soon. I’m saddened by this, but I’m gonna use him while I can!
Plus, softball season starts next month and I have a teensy little walk I should be training for, too.

I forget how much I love going to the gym until I get home. I’m extremely wound up and so full of energy I don’t know what to do. I only live 5 minutes from my gym now, so I don’t have time to burn it off like I did in the past. Instead, I come home, take my dog outside, and play with him like crazy. He wins, I win.
I’m going back tomorrow.
And how about Sunday, you say? Saturay’s recap was getting way too long, and I knew you wouldn’t read all of it if I kept typing. I’m smart like that.
Riley Pants let me sleep in until 9. Score.
I went to the big city of Minneapolis for a cute little 4.5 mile training walk with Jenni and Stephanie. As a side note, just because there are other people walking on the lake, this does not mean I should do it. Especially when I can fill the ice move under my feet, and feel sky tumblin’ down, tumblin’ down.
I don’t know that doing the walk with Jenni is a good idea or not. If Sunday afternoon was any indication, we will be laughing more than we will be walking and I don’t know that thousands of other walkers will find our humor all that funny.
Infections. We were walking along/around Lake Calhoun (along with 1/3 of the Twin Cities) chatting and laughing and being completely inappropriate, when we meet a few older men – older than my dad, I would guess. One says to the other “like the infection you had last year?”. We waited approximately 2.9 seconds after they walked by before we began snorting and laughing. And then we wanted to shower, because we weren’t exactly sure what infection he may have had, nor were we sure if the infection had cleared up.
Dogs. I love dogs. Now I do, anyway. I only love big dogs, though, and by big dogs, I mean ones that I can’t smash if I accidentally step on. Everyone has their preference, though, and I’m okay with that. What I’m not okay with is when people need to bring their tiny little dogs that could easily be eaten by a duck to the lake, and then proceed to walk around the lake with the dog in their purse and/or BABY BJORN THINGY. Wny? Do the dogs like it? Wouldn’t they rather be walking? Maybe they can’t make it around the lake, so maybe you could choose a different walking path with your little dog.
Plus, my big dog, once he masters the fine art of the leash, might try to box the crap out of your little dog, because that’s what boxers do – THEY BOX.
I’m not sure I needed more reasons to love living here, but my How to Drive a Steam Locomotive class and the chain of lakes are two of my favorite things right now.
Saturday morning, I got up and went to Amelia’s swimming lessons, which is a normal weekend activity for me. She turned four in January and it’s fun to watch her. This week, they were supposed to jump into the four feet deep side of the pool without holding on to the teacher’s hand. Amelia’s a dealmaker, and managed to talk the teacher in to letting her hang on to her pinkie finger when she jumped in. Adorable, indeed. Then, because I hadn’t seen her in about a week, I got a huge wet hug after the lesson was over.
I taught her to say “I love you” a few months ago in sign language. Tell me your heart wouldn’t melt if you saw a little blonde haired, blue eyed cutie telling you that from all the way across the YMCA swimming pool.
I had to quickly stop over at the ghetto Wal-Mart, which is actually right across the street from an apartment I wasthisclose to renting, to pick up a toilet brush, some business sized envelopes, and hand soap.
Jenni and I had plans to go to The 3 Day Kick Off Expo, so we headed into Minneapolis for that. Like a chump, I forgot my badge and I was so damn angry about that. I got a cool pin that said “I’m walking 60 in ’06″, though, and that just about made up for it. We walked past the tents (where Jenni asked me to sleep with her), the New Balance people (who I love so much because their shoes make my feet happy), and a thing I don’t think they had last year – they let you write a note to yourself about why you’re doing the walk, then they seal it into an envelope, and you get it back during The 3 Day. Like I need another reason to cry during it.
We got some awesome new ideas for fundraising, and our team goal of $25,000 is looking easier and easier every day. I’m about $825 from my goal, as soon as a few donations go through. I don’t know what it is about The 3 Day, but it has this insane ability to get me so very excited about begging for money and walking until my feet fall off.
Since we were in total 3 Day mode, we decided to go check out the bowling alley in St. Paul that we’re using on April 22nd (save the date!). We took some pictures, made some preliminary setup plans, and managed to get even more excited.
Riley had an appointment at 5pm to get groomed, which he desperately needed. An hour and a half and $42 later, I picked him up to find him wearing an oranage bandana. He prefers red, but whatever. The good news is that he was able to bond with his new gay stylist named Russell. I’m glad that he was able to find a stylist he connects with so well. In any case, I’ll be using Russell in the future, because he did such an awesome job. Is it wrong that my dog has a stylist in Minnesota, and I still keep mine in Missouri?
This is what he does anytime I have the patio door open. He loves it so much that he managed to bust through the screen door within a week of living here.
At only 9 months, my dog can already piss letters in the snow. Notice the T. It’s partly because when he pees, he sometimes pees in three streams.
Fresh from the groomer’s on Sunday, his pretty orange handkerchief only lasted about 15 minutes after we got home. He’d had enough.
And, of course, there are a few more here.
